Crafting for a Cause
It’s amazing to look back and see what God has done with Crafting for a Cause. In the fall of 2007, a few women at Corinth gathered in the hall before church to put together the items they had been working on to donate to the families of premature babies in need. A few weeks later, one of their husbands mentioned their work at a church leadership meeting, and wondered how Corinth could get involved. A few exciting conversations later, Crafting for a Cause was born. In December, a few interested members got together to transform a room in the Christian Education building into a room with sewing machines, cutting tables, work surfaces for knitting and crochet, and a fabric storage closet. The first month, ten people from churches throughout Dayton came to the workday. The second month, the group doubled in size. By March, the group had become an official network of the Presbytery and the ideas were flying around the now crowded room. What began as an effort to make items for babies in need quickly grew to a group that knits, crochets, quilts, and sews items for infants and children in local hospitals, afghans for nursing home residents, hats for soldiers, prayer shawls, chemotherapy hats - the list grows every month! Each month it is amazing to see the joy and laughter that fills the room as men and women of all ages get together to craft for those in need.
Join us at our workdays on the first Saturday of each month from 10 - 3 in the Christian Education building. If you don’t know how to sew, knit, or crochet, come and learn from the experts! We also accept donations of fabric and sewing supplies.
The Handymen
Whether you have a leaky faucet, or enjoy helping out around the house, the Handymen would like to hear from you! Call the church office to sign up to be a handyman of the first Saturday of the month for those in need, or to request help from the Handymen for your home.
Older Adult Ministry
Older Adult ministry is a priority at Corinth. Join us for the monthly Retirees or Card Club groups, and come to our sermon series in April focusing on the promises of Scripture to each of us as we age. Pastor visits at home and in the hospital, and home communion are all a part of our ministry as well.
Singles Worship Service
This summer, a team of single adults will be meeting to discuss a possible Singles Worship Service for the fall. If you would like to be a part of this team, call or e-mail Megan and Dave to come to the next meeting.
Corinth Kids
Bring your kids, along with their questions and their wiggles, and come to church! Children are always welcome in worship, and we have a special bag prepared for them in the back of the sanctuary. If they are still working up to being in church for the full hour, they are invited to leave with one of our pastors after the Scripture readings for a craft and story in the kids’ room!
Mark your calendars for our special kid events throughout the year - the morning with St. Nicholas in December, a Valentine’s Party, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween party, and playgroups each month. We want your children to feel like a part of our church family!
